Meet the family
Demeris has always been a family business. Here are the people who built it, and the generation that runs it today.
Three generations at the pit
Frank & Angelike Demeris
Frank and Angelike married in Falanthe, Greece, and raised four children. Frank brought the family to Houston in 1947 and opened the G and N Cafe in 1952.
Gus Frank Demeris
Frank's eldest son. Gus learned the trade at Steve's Barbecue and, with his brother Jimmy, conceived and built the first Demeris Bar-B-Q in 1964. He served in the U.S. Army.
Jimmy Demeris
Partnered with Gus on Shipley's, Carol's Kitchen and, in 1964, the first Demeris Bar-B-Q. Jimmy served in the National Guard.
Nick Demeris
The "N" in the G and N Cafe. Nick joined the Bar-B-Q business in 1964 and served in the U.S. Army.
Georgia & George Vlahakos
Frank's daughter Georgia, who arrived in Houston with him in 1947, joined the business in 1964 with her husband George.
Frankie & Yonny Demeris
Grandsons of Frank who, with their cousins, run Demeris today: refining operations, adding to the menu and growing Demeris Catering.

We treat your family like our own
Behind every plate is a crew of pitmasters, cooks, meat cutters, servers and catering staff, many of whom have been with the family for years. Our longtime regulars say it best:
"It's not just the food. It's the service."
